Hi Gmatclubbers,

Just wanted to find out how important the IR is in an MBA application.

I took the GMAT today and scored a 740 Q50 V41 IR5.

As I have scored high in Quant section, will the adcoms overlook the IR section?

Any thoughts or views are appreciated.

No one cares about IR. Also 97% of test-takers would kill for your score.

Hi arungmat212,

A 740/Q50 is an outstanding score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business School that you choose. Since many Business Schools have publicly stated that they don't use the IR score as part of the application process, you have nothing to worry about there.

Thanks for the reply.

I haven't yet decided on which schools to apply to but Columbia and Stern are two schools I am looking at. I will most probably apply this year.

Both Columbia and Stern are highly competitive Schools, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:

With your scores, you would likely also qualify for Scholarships, if that's something that would interest you.
