first attempt : 740 (Q-46; V-46; IR-4)

Question

Hello everyone,

just sharing my experience.. I was not expecting a good score. in fact, the highest score I had in practice was 690. so I was pleasantly surprised. I did self prep only with the OG and GMAT PREP.

I do have a couple questions:

1) my IR score is really low (38 percentile): will that change the way a top 10 MBA school looks at my profile?
2) my quant percentile (64) is much lower than my verbal percentile (99) - will that affect my chances?

my profile : Indian male - IT (SAP consultant/architect) - 31 yrs old. lot's of international work experience.

First off, well done

1. An IR score of 4 won't hurt your chances. You've got a 740! 2. Are you by any chance applying to a school (or program) that has traditionally looked for strong quant skills? Otherwise it's really the 740 that schools are going to be interested in.

Hey AjiteshArun, thanks for your answer. I really don't want to write the GMAT again. Right now I'm looking at INSEAD and considering some american schools too. One of my concerns is my age (im going to turn 32 next month). Is there any specific school you would recommend? I definitely want to start my MBA next year (2016).

I currently work in Enterprise Architecture and I would like to transition to business strategy/consulting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not saying that you should take the exam again. A 740 is amazing. All I'm saying is that your IR and quant scores are not going to hold you back.

As for your new questions, there are a lot of factors involved there. Have a discussion with professionals on the admissions side  here .

Hello samuelisaac That is funny. I have 740 (q50, V40) IR3 and knew yesterday that my AWA 4.5 Looks like we have the same issues

I read a lot that comission does not pay to much attention on IR and AWA. Hope this is true. Please write me if you will find something about this topic because I fell nervous a bit about this moment. Good luck with your application.

lol yeah.. thats pretty funny. I'm talking to some consultants and so far the feedback is that we are "OK".. I'll let you know if I hear anything different. How come you aren't you looking at any european schools? I'm applying to some of the same schools that you are.. maybe we'll be classmates

I don't know why but I dream about US schools. I was on meetings with alumni and had a more nice impression from US alumni. Also US with it's entrepreneurial spirit is quite closer to my mentality than Europe. And finally I have been a lot in Europe but never in USA so I want to kill two birds with one stone
