I scored a 6 on my AWA score, but I have heared that it doesn't really mean anything. Is that true? I know that it doesn't hurt having a good score on the writing test. I have heard that admissions offices don't even really consider them unless they are really bad scores. Than they have something to worry about.
the percentile for a 6 awa is 89%. so many ppl get that score. It is not something that adcoms will weigh heavily. The may look at the essay but it won't make or break your application.
I got a 6, too. But before my official report ever arrived showing that, my school had already accepted me based on my unofficial report--so they obviously didn't care.
I seem to recall reading once that an applicant whose Verbal score was borderline, a school might look more at AWA to try to better guage his or her language skills.
Come on people, give the guy some props. Regardless of how adcoms look at it, having scored a 6.0 on AWA is still impressive. I mean think about it, it means, 9 out of 10 people who took the GMAT scored worse than you on the AWA.

9/10 scored worse? True.
Impressive? Not really
How many of the 9 actually tried to get a 6.0? Not the efficient test takers.
