I just finished giving my GMAT today morning. Got a score of 770 with a split of Q51,V44. I feel I could have done a little bit better on the verbal side but overall I am happy with the score.
I started my preparation around mid October. I started by giving a Kaplan linear GMAT test ( book based ) to see where I stood and what my weaknesses were. I got a 690 with a poor score in quant and reasonable score in verbal. Within verbal, my SC performance was very bad. So I decided to prepare accordingly.
I had prepared with the following materials:
1) Kaplan Premier - Very good book to start your preparation. Helps you to understand the different problem types and gets you up to the 700 level quite quickly. Helped a lot with refreshing my quant skills. Also provides pretty good online CATs and practice quizzes.
2) Kaplan Advanced/Kaplan 800 - I felt this book was not very worthy - I was expecting more practice material and less theory compared to what the book had
3) Powerscore SC - Was very helpful in getting my sentence correction skills to a higher level. The organization of the book was quite good.
4) OG - As everyone would say, absolutely essential. I spent a long time studying OG and analysing the mistakes I made in the OG problem set
5) GMATprep - I took one practice test a week before the test and got 760 (don't remember the split, forgot to take note). I realized that I am not timing the problems correctly so had to work on that aspect. Took another practice test a day before GMAT (yesterday) and again scored 760 with Q50,v42. I could see that the timing had improved.
I wanted to take Manhattan GMAT test and GMAT Club tests, but due to work pressure and family reasons I couldn't devote enough time.
Things went well today in the actual test and I think I eliminated some silly mistakes that I had made in the practice tests and thats why my score improved in the actual. Am looking forward for some rest now, am planning to apply to B-schools only next year. I have a preference for 1 year MBA courses, so need to plan the applications accordingly.

Sorry about that.. I forgot to take note of the split first time and then only realized that GMATPrep does not remember the scores forever. Only thing I remember is that both quant and verbal were less than 50. I have edited my post accordingly.
