I would like to hear people's opinions on whether or not I should retake the GMAT. I got 750 but only 47Q, which translates to 76 percentile. I've heard that the top business schools use 80 percentile as a rule of thumb so I'm a bit concerned.
For reference, I'm targeting HBS, Stanford, Wharton, and Kellog.

First of all you should see that your performance in the actual test is better than you practice tests or have you underperformed in a particular section . If the case is under performance then you can plan to retake the test but in no case 750 is a lesser score. Its a great score and though the top B Schools use 80 percentile but they also looks at your overall score and yours is more than the average of any school .
So i suggest you should work more on your application Coz even if you get a 760 or 770 next time ,it is not going to make much of a difference but your application does. Best of luck for the future.

I think your score is well above average, required for many B-schools. But still if you are longing to score better in your quant you can go ahead and do it. In my view the current score is good one. If you concentrate on your other aspects of the application, I think you will have chance to the schools you are aiming to apply.
