Hey Sid,

Great performance!! Just had a question. Were you getting 700+ on all your mock tests as well?

Regards,

Gave Kaplan tests in the 3rd attempt as I had exhausted the Manhattan tests repeating them 3-4 times. So in Kaplan tests was getting above 700. My scores were like 700,760,720,720. I think in Manhattan it would be lower. Manhattan tests are good but I think their score calculation does not imitate the GMAT score calculation.

Congratulations! Awesome performance.

Did you use grockit that comes with E-gmat for your practice? Also did you take any GMAT Preps during your 3rd attempt preparation?

Hey Sid, what was your score in Verbal in first attempt. I got V23 yesterday, and i am stunned. Not sure where did i go wrong. Read my post here. Can you suggest some strategies that may help me.

Mine was 22 in the first attempt. I think you may have messed up in the initial questions. Do the initial 15 questions as patiently and as accurately as possible. For the initial questions in math and verbal, this is a must.

Sid, I will definitely try your this tip, and if i were to ask you to summarize the reason for jumping to V40 from V22, what would be your answer.

Hi sid090188, congrats on the high score! I can't say that all the strategies you advise are necessarily recommended strategies, but if they worked for you, then great! It isn't a bad idea to skip a few questions in order to keep the time within acceptable parameters, so if you feel that skipping the last RC questions is a valid strategy, it certainly will help you save time!

I'm not at all convinced that the first few questions weigh more than the middle questions or last questions. A number of people postulate that the last 10 and first 10 are the most important, but I think your example shows that the last 10 don't necessarily have much of an impact (you got 2-3 right in the last 8?). I'd just advise trying to do well on all of them, but if you want to spend a little extra time on the first few questions, then that's fine too.

What I'm most impressed with is your persistence. A lot of people would have stopped after 1 or 2 tests and said "forget this". You stuck with it and learned from your mistakes and now you have the great score to show it. Congratulations and best of luck in the next steps!

Could it be that the questions you marked blindly from 30 to 41 may have a good number of hits?? This strategy is a little scary. Did you follow the same strategy in mocks as well?? did you mark all the 11 questions randomly?
