Hi HAVRENNE,

Congrats on the great GMAT score. Considering how well balanced your score is, I would not recommend retaking the exam. I think you have a good score that can help you get in to any program of your choice. However, it would depend greatly on your background, work-experience, achievements, extre-curriculars, etc. Can you shed more light on these aspects?

You should also reach out with these details to a good admission consultant and get their opinion.

Sure.

Academic Background: I graduated as an industrial engineer in Dec/2008 at one of the top brazilian universities, USP (GPA concept is a little diferent here, but I finished my undergrad with an average of 7.5 out of 10, probably between top 20% of my class). I also went to study in France at Ecole Centrale de Lyon for 1 year in an exchange-program that my school offered (studied for 7 months and did an internship in a consulting company there for 5 months). After that I've decided to take the CFA certification and am currently waiting for the L3 results.

Work experience: apart from internships I've worked in a strategic consulting company (1y), M&A division of a healthcare company (~1y), drugstore retail company (~2y) and since last year I have been working at an asset management (public+private equity).

Achievements/Extra-curriculars: I played water polo at a high level for ~4y before entering university. I'm native in portuguese and fluent in english and french and I have some basic knowledge of german.

6 months later, a quick update.

After all I decided to retake the GMAT! I set the date for Jan 6, last day for R2 at most of the schools to which I was submitting my application. I thought between Christmas and New Year's I would get some time to finish all my essays and study for at least one week prior to GMAT, but I was wrong! My essays consumed all my spare time and more.

I went to the test center without many hopes, but since I had already paid the fee I decided to take the exam even without studying again.
End of game: 730 (Q48 V41 IR8) - improved my score by 20 points. This time I was cautious with time and made sure to finish the exam and not getting stuck in any specific question.

My takeaway: if you have to worry about a couple of things in GMAT:
1 - Finish your exam! Don't get stuck in questions for too long. SPECIALLY RC QUESTIONS !!!! They can be very time-consuming if u dont use your time correctly
2 - In the verbal part to me what was more useful in SC was looking for the "building blocks" of each statement (premises, conclusions, background), memorizing each type of question and how the answer should look like ended up just consuming time with little to add.
3 - In the quant part it's all about practicing, I got really unhappy about my score in my 2nd gmat attempt, but in the end, what I found out is that I wasn't so much used to solve problems I knew I had a hard time with (specially factors, prime numbers, etc...).

All in all, hope my gmat is good enough for the schools I'm applying to and hopefully I'll never have to do it ever again, but if u're reading this post, there's my good piece of advice to you.
