hello everyone..
first of all thank you to each and everyone on this forum and the biggest thanks to Gmat Club.took my GMAT yesterday and scored 710.. Q 49 V 38..Frankly speaking i was shocked.Never in my wildest dream did i expect to score 700+
I started giving MGMATs and was faring really bad.The highest i could reach in MGMAT was 630 and that also when i took the test in two days.I scored from 570 to 630 on MGMATs.Few days back i gave kaplan free test and scored 660 and then i took Veritas and scored 670 which did give me a bit of confidence.
Then i took the GMAT prep 1 on the 15th of August and scored 640..what a sad score for an easy paper as prep1, after reviewing it i realized that i had made silly calculation mistakes.I took the GMAT prep 2 on 17th August(2 days prior to my GMAT) and scored 680.Better but could have improved.
As i have heard and read GMAT prep gives pretty much the most accurate prediction so i though i will score somewhere in the range of 660 - 680.But as it turned out i was lucy yesterday and scored 710.
i now realize that i could have scored better especially in Verbal..I have all the pre material from Manhattan but i feel that i didn't utilize them properly.I really do not want to take the exam once more as its actually very stressing.
would love to hear from you guys and once again a big thanks to all of you especially Bunuel, Karishma, Mike and all others whose names i can't recollect...gmatclub had become the most visited site after Facebook..

IMO absolutely not, from what I know adcomms only look GMAT improvements if they are +30 points. So you will need to get from 710 to 740, which is a tall order (requires the complete overhaul) -- which as you say are not in the mood to do.
Second, if you do improve from 710 to 740+ adcomms will know that you utilized your time to improve on the factor that you had already done well on. They may look at this negatively, esp. if they find that you could have better utilized your time and improved some other aspects of the app eg. community work.
However there may be some cases in which you might consider a retake :
1. Undergrad GPA is low. As most consultants suggest, the best way to overcome this is to score above average on the GMAT.
2. You are confident that by overcoming flaws identified in your prep you can easily improve 30-40 points, and there is no other way in which your app can be distinguished -- IMO highly unlikely though
