FROM Babson Admissions Blog: Test It Out – we did it again!
Last year, we introduced a new program for part-time students interested in getting a firsthand experience of the Babson MBA before they apply. Our prospective students loved the idea and the demand exceeded all expectations! Therefore this fall, we are offering another opportunity to participate in a Babson Blended Learning: Test It Out course focused on Health Care Strategy. The course is open to students interested in either the Blended Learning MBA or the Evening MBA. In the words of one of the students, the course “uses real-world real-time examples with focus on industry structure to ensure relevancy and maximized learning potential”. We hope to see you in class!

FROM Babson Admissions Blog: Eiffel was an entrepreneur!
A quick hello from the Graduate Admissions team, which is currently travelling across the United States and the world to meet with prospective MBA and Masters students. In this link you can see where around the globe you can meet us in the coming weeks.

And here is a photo from my colleague Jenene Romanucci who last week met a great group of prospective MSM students in Paris. The background is only fitting since Gustave Eiffel was not simply a civil engineer and architect – he was a true entrepreneur!

FROM Babson Admissions Blog: Round 1 deadline – come play at Babson!
No, this is not an error. I know I am addressing mostly prospective MBA and Masters candidates on this blog but I really am talking about play – and the practice of play, no less. What I am referring to is an important component of how we help shape entrepreneurial leaders through our programs. One of our great colleagues and a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Babson, Patti Greene, wrote about how we do this at Babson in this Forbes article and I know you will enjoy learning about it:

Entrepreneurship Requires Practice: The Practice Of Play

And as the title of this blog post hopefully reminds you – Saturday, November 1, is the deadline for submitting a Round 1 application for the One-Year MBA, Two-Year MBA and MSM. You can find important details about the application submission requirements here

We all have our own goals. Live yours.

FROM Babson Admissions Blog: What to expect after you hit “Submit”
With the Round 1 deadline for the One-Year MBA, Two-Year MBA and MSM just behind us, your questions via email and phone have been pouring in. Here’s what you should expect and do after you’ve submitted your application:

  • Check your email regularly – we will communicate important information about the completion of your application and the progress of your candidacy via email.
  • Until we have received all required documents – test scores and transcripts – your application will remain incomplete. We will work with you to complete it as quickly as possible.
  • Check your Babson Bridge – in addition to emails, there you can find information about missing documents. If you are invited for an admissions interview, the Babson Bridge is where you will be able to schedule it.
  • Admissions Interviews are by invitation only. If you are invited for an interview, please schedule it promptly. Interview invites will be going out in batches all through November.
  • If you still have questions or concerns – call us at 781-239-4317 or email us at [email protected]. We are here to help.
The Graduate Admissions team wishes you the best of luck in the admissions process!

FROM Babson Admissions Blog: Ready to Reapply?
Every year, a number of MBA applicants face the question of what it really means to reapply to a program that for some reason they were not able to become part of the year before. While we do outline the process for you in our application instructions, it may be helpful for you to hear 3 important tips:

1. It will be clean slate. Just because you did not get admitted a year ago, withdrew your application or couldn’t accept an offer of admission at the time, it doesn’t mean there is a huge black mark on your record. We will consult your old file but will review your updated candidacy on its own merit.

2. The key word in tip #1 is “updated”! Please do take the time to update any parts of your application that may have changed since the last time you applied, including your resume and a new letter of recommendation. Put your best effort into crafting an optional essay that describes any new personal and professional developments since you previously applied and how your career goals may have evolved.

3. Consider going above and beyond. We like to see that your interest in and commitment to the Babson MBA is stronger than ever. You may choose to resubmit all your essays and recommendations so your overall application reflects how you have progressed personally and professionally and why this is the year you will make a difference as a Babson MBA student.

I hope this helps. If you still have questions or concerns – call us at 781-239-4317 or email us at [email protected]. We are here to help.

FROM Babson Admissions Blog: What’s new at Babson San Francisco?
Last week, I was fortunate to spend a couple of days at Babson’s San Francisco campus! There was a lot going on at 135 Main Street this week. The San Francisco alumni holiday party took place on Wednesday. We hosted 60 alumni and some current students from our undergraduate and MBA programs.

On Friday and Saturday, there were face-to-face sessions for the students from two Blended Learning MBA cohorts. The two days the students spend on campus every seven weeks are an intense but very productive time. Even lunch break was a time for teamwork and case discussion. We would be happy to have you join us for one of our Blended Learning visitor programs if you would like to experience what being a Blended Learning MBA students feels like. And stay tuned for news about our next Blended Learning Test-It-Out class in San Francisco – we will be announcing the next edition of this special program for qualified prospective students shortly after the start of the New Year.

FROM Babson Admissions Blog: A big day for Round 1 applicants!
Today is a very important day for all Round 1 applicants – we will be releasing admissions decisions at midnight! The Round 1 pool of candidates was large and exceptionally strong this year and the admissions committee spent a tremendous number of hours discussing the candidates and their fit for Babson.

So here is what happens next:

  • You will receive an email to check your Babson Bridge where your decision letter will be posted. You will also be able to see what merit scholarship you may have received.
  • All admitted candidates will be invited to join us for a special Welcome Day in January. We hope you will be able to join us.
  • If you find that you have been wait listed, don’t panic and follow the instructions and suggestions for waitlisted candidates on the Bridge – we will continue to work with you.
  • Finally, if you did not receive a positive outcome, we will be happy to connect with you and offer some feedback – but please note that we will not be able to do this earlier than August.
For all other applicants – a couple of important reminders:

  • Babson College will be closed for the holidays starting Wednesday, December 24. We will return on Monday, January 5.
  • The Round 2 deadline for the Two-Year MBA, One-Year MBA and MSM is January 5. Here is a reminder about What the expect after you hit “Submit”.
On behalf of the entire Graduate Admissions team, I wish you happy holidays and a wonderful start of the New Year!
