Thanks for responses y'all! I'll just be happy that I got the score I did and move on with the rest of the application proces. I personally found IR on this last test really annoying.

Hi SilverBull,

A 760/Q49 is an outstanding score; you have a GMAT score that will make every Business School happy regardless of any IR score that you might have. Many Business Schools have publicly stated that they do not factor in an applicant's IR scoring during the evaluation process, so you have nothing to worry about there.

The Schools that you listed are all VERY competitive though, so you have to think about how your OVERALL application comes across. As such, you might consider working with an Admissions Expert on your applications. While no Expert can guarantee you anything, they can help you to make sure that you're presenting all of your accomplishments and ideas in the proper ways.

You can pose questions to those same Experts in this Sub-Forum:

Hey all!

So retook my GMAT and went from a 680 (43Q/41V) to a 760 (49Q/45V) but my IR went down from 6 to 5. I'm looking at elite schools such as Wharton, Columbia, NYU, Dartmouth, Chicago, Cornell, etc.

Ceretis paribus, should I be worried at all with that IR?

Hi Silverbull,

First congratulations on your score! That is quite the improvement - you should be proud of yourself.

With regard to IR: We would advise you that if you've scored in the 700s, you might be better served to report the score and not opt for a retake. While getting higher IR scores can help, this Poets and Quants article reports that many business school admissions professionals are still unsure of how to use Integrated Reasoning scores in their decision making process: https://poetsandquants.com/2014/10/09/b- ... r-section/.

Hope this helps, and best of luck on your MBA applications.

I've asked this question to numerous admissions people and the answer is always the same - they simply do not have enough information on the IR section at this point to use it as a data point in applications.
