I wrote my GMAT today, my second attempt at the test and scored 670 with Q49 and V33. In my last attempt I scored a dismal 640.
I badly wanted that magical number 7 and felt I was prepared for it with my mock scores scores reflecting the range 680-740, although retakes since I had already attempted those while preparing for the first time.
I plan to apply to ISB R2. Low GMAT score, usual IT profile - total 7 years experience (only savior good 2 years of international experience).
I would be wrong if I say I dont know what went wrong , the thing which I anticipated and thought shouldnt go wrong went wrong in the test. The dreaded RC !! All the RC felt too convulated , too detail oriented and I guess I knew I had lost the battle after the third RC, though I tried to put my best foot forward.
Frankly, I had put in a lot of effort with this attempt and this score is hard to accept and I guess I will take a day or two to muster the courage of thinking of a reattempt.
However, I am here to seek your suggestions to proceed further.
What are some good (premier) schools I can aim with 670 or you strongly recommend a retake to target 7XX? I would realistically like to know an opinion on ISB R2.
At the end, how long do you think I should prepare for a reattempt. Certainly I dont want to lose the momentum but unfortunately I had a planned travel for 2 weeks starting this Friday for festivities. So the break is unavoidable. RC and CR would remain my key focus cos those were the areas I was least confident in.
Not looking for any coaching as such with preparation, though I am open to admission consultants cos I feel I would certainly need professional help putting the best application out there with a low score. However, any strategies which worked for you for improving RC and CR, kindly suggest !

Why? You never scored more than 690 and most of your latest scores are around 650. Why are you devastated? Your results are pretty good for those practice scores.

Sorry to hear that the test didn't go well for you, GmatDM2016! But I think you might have answered your own question in a subtle way:
Unfortunately, once you're retaking practice tests, you simply can't trust those scores anymore. They'll inevitably be inflated -- perhaps substantially. Honestly, it really doesn't matter whether you consciously remember the practice test questions -- you'll have a MUCH easier time reading anything that you've seen before, and both your accuracy and timing will be helped enormously as a result. Even a small handful of repeat questions can radically change the testing experience.
The other issue is that it looks like you've relied heavily on non-official tests -- I see two GMATPrep tests in your signature, but the rest are "knockoff" tests. The bottom line is that GMAT test-prep companies can never do a very good job of copying the style of real GMAT questions, especially on CR and RC... and anybody who says otherwise is trying to sell you something. Sure, non-official GMAT tests can be useful as practice, but they certainly aren't ideal, particularly for verbal.
Obviously, I'm not sure exactly which materials you've used -- or exactly which practice tests you've repeated -- but a good, steady diet of official GMAT questions can only help your cause. If you need extra official CR and RC questions, try some LSATs -- they're consistently harder, but test basically the same skills as the GMAT. And if you haven't done all six of the official GMATPrep tests, then you'll definitely want to tackle those. Any "virgin" GMATPrep test will tell you a lot about where you stand; a repeated test from, say, MGMAT definitely will not.
