I have given my second attempt at the GMAT and got 700. Before doing this I delayed my GMAT twice because of my work commitments and it felt like it was never going to come around. Finally, it happened and I don't think I could've made a better decision than delaying it when I needed it to. I feel this is an uncertain and undiscussed topic. I support the feeling of readiness and believe that unless you believe you are ready for the final kill, you shouldn't be attempting the exam. Of course, the luck factor is there but I don't think we want to go in the exam hoping we get lucky. If there is an application deadline right around the corner, I understand the hastiness but if you have time and do not feel ready yet, delaying the exam might be the perfect money saving and confidence boosting trick you need. There is no need of entering an exam hall knowing you're not gonna score well, rather, take some more time and give your best when you're prepared better. The schools do not get any sign of rescheduling or even cancelling of scores! So be assured, all they want is your best attempt and best score. All the best to all, and if this helped, would appreciate the Kudos!
