OK..here I am..back after a good sleep and a long dinner...

Prep strategy after my first attempt:
Basically stuck with my plan of going through OG10 SC and CR as mentioned above. Went through each and every question of OG10 along with explanations. Didn't bother too much about Quant as yet as I was pretty OK with my performance in my first attempt.

Leading to the D-day:
Did around 200 CR questions from 1000CR (around 30% are repetitions from OG10) because I felt CR is an area where I can improve - more on the logic patterns. On the hindsight, it really helped push my score in the real test by a couple of points I think.
One important thing which I think really helped leading to the D-day was following the advise of Necromonger and doing repeat GMAT Prep tests in the last 3 days. I did 3 GMAT Prep re-install tests over the weekend. Scored a 680, 710 and 720. Lot of verbal repeats but math was almost 85% - 90% new questions. This really helped me boost my math score to 99 percentile. If you have a few days to spare at the end, I strongly suggest to take repeat GMAT Prep tests in the last days leading to your final test. thanks necromonger !!

The test:
AWA was straight forward. although I didn't prepare for it, it was kind of OK and could complete each of the AWA essays with around 10 mins to spare. Did not take the optional break.

Quant was kind of shaky. For Q3 to Q6 it really took a lot of time (~ 3-4 mins a question) to come up with a correct answer. But could recover later with few straight forward calculation problems. Got one probability problem in DS and I think I got it right. No permutations and combinations. Overall I felt I did kinda OK at the end of the section although was not very confident of breaking the 49 barrier. Took the optional break.

Verbal was and is always my weak area and before commencing the section told myself to just give it a best shot. Verbal started with 3 continuous SC's and then a CR and then a short RC. Looked like I was in the right direction gauging the toughness of questions. Suddenly CR questions with tough choices started popping up followed by two long RCs and a few single word SCs. I could not really gauge whether I was getting tough questions or easy questions. I thought "what the heck!! has to anyway complete the section". But one thing I think which helped me achieve a decent 35 (in line with my practice scores) was spending more time on tough questions without bothering too much about time running out. Because based on my practice tests, I knew that even though I spend a few extra mins on a few questions, I can recover with SC questions later. At the end of verbal, I had not expectations of the score.

Clicked the "end section" button, started filling the questionnaire, closed my eyes expecting a 680 and started counting down from 10 to 1. when I opened my eyes, saw a 710 on the screen with a 51 on Quant!! I couldn't ask for more, came out and finished the checkout formalities.

That's my story between the first and second attempts. Once again thanks to all contributions from the club members.

Cheers and ATB.

My congratulations to you Riya. :-D
Once again your effort goes to show that if you analyze your weak areas and work upon them sincerely, GMAT can be easily conquered .
BTW, your quant score is awesome. Many people lose out on one section trying to improve on the other. You didn't lose on your Quant and improved your verbal considerably. Great show.
Best of Luck for your applications.

Riya,
Congratulations on your great score and you are most welcome! It's great to know some of my experience helped you too. Of course, I would attribute that to a lot of other great people out here.

Guess it's time for you to get cracking on your applications -- I'm suffering under the weight of the essays ;)

Thanks to all for your wishes...

u2lover - I studied more or less 1 hr per day during week days, couple of hours during first 2 weekends and then full length tests during the last two weekends. But what I think helped me most was my CR1000 practice during the last week and 3 GMATPREP tests during the last weekend. ATB for your test..you can do it mate!!
