I'm at Bain. Interesting enough, I was in the process of piecing together a video entitled "is an mba worth it" then talk about my carreer, finances etc.

Hopefully you're heading into apps?

Hi Dauan.

You executed well, and got the results of following a good plan.

Quote:
I sometimes spent up to 10 minutes solving a single 600-700 level question. If you can't see how to solve the question in the first place then trying to speed up isn't going to work.
That insight is so simple and at the same time so valuable.

Congrats, and may all go well for you going forward.

There are quite a few "is an mba worth it" titles videos on youtube. I think if you mention, somewhere in the title, that you're at Bain, you'll be more credible and get higher viewership. Youtube is a tough world. I made a channel at uni and got to 1k subs and 200k views before abandoning it for academia.

I'm doing my apps now and I'll be submitting them over the few weeks.

Hard work. Dedication. Perseverance. You did it! It's always great to achieve a 700+ score but, 730 especially on your first attempt is great. We know that this is an accomplishment that you've been working for, and we're thrilled to see it all come together. You did an amazing job of preparing for this test, and we're so proud of you for taking it on. Keep up the good work, and we look forward to seeing what you can do next!

Best Regards,

Congratulations on the absolutely epic improvement, Dauan! And thank you for the kind words -- I'm glad that we could help a bit.

You'll laugh at this part: I didn't know that I had a podcast, and googled "GMAT Ninja podcast" after reading your debrief. Turns out that GMAT Club has turned a few of the YouTube video debriefs into podcast episodes, which is pretty cool -- but I (embarrassingly!) missed the memo about it. Pretty funny. If there's enough interest from the community, I'll happily do more of those.

Congratulations again on the spectacular leap, and please let us know where you land for grad school!

Hah I agree! Thanks for the tip. You know what - my first 4 videos blew up, but then i did nothing for 3 years, so naturally things are going to take a bit to get going again

Haha, GMATNinja you should definitely turn some more youtube videos into podcasts. I downloaded and listened to a podcast every time I took a flight. Since there isn't any internet on flights and I had so much time to kill I ended up listening to each one at least twice, maybe Colton's 770 3 times! I also listened to them on public transport too.

Congratulations Dauan. I watched you debrief on YouTube and want to know the streaks method you used. How exactly did you use that because TTP Marty has suggested me to do that to improve on from 530

Thanks! I did streaks methods towards the end of my study, around 2-3 weeks before the exam. I only did a few days of streaks method, but I had planned to do more for my next exam if I scored less than 700.

I’ll assume you know how the streaks method works. Here are the positives of the streaks method:
- it’s probably the best way to get consistency and build confidence in the 500-600 and 600-700 level range, but only after you know ALL the material. The streaks method is far better at building consistency than targeted topic practice because you are exposed to wider range of questions.
-it forces you to try hard on the easy question because it sucks so much not to even get to the 600-700 level questions.
- great for diverse topic practise, by that I mean getting used to answering a wide variety of topics per study session.

Here are the negatives:
- Streaks method takes longer to see a progress then targeted topic practise. You need to do a lot of questions using the streaks method. Unlike targeted topic practise you can’t expect to do 3 hours of streaks and feel a difference. I’d say set aside a week or 2 just to do streaks method towards the end of your study.
- if you haven’t learnt the material and practised topic by topic before, the streaks method is inefficient (unless you do topic by topic streaks method).

Final thoughts: if you’re aiming for 700 and scoring 530, I think you may want to do topic by topic practise first until you reach around 650. Then, think about streaks to smooth out the silly mistakes.

Hope this helps,
If Marty tells you otherwise, listen to him. It’s important to chose a study plan and stick with it.

Thanks for the reply
I have utilized TTP to complete my knowledge on the exam, here is my post about my journey.

https://gmatclub.com/forum/scored-460-a ... 05692.html

Now I am going to follow topic by topic streaks method and then try practice of diverse questions on quants as you did in the end of your preparation journey.
Am I doing the prep correctly if I follow this pathway.
