Hello,

I have my GMAT online exam coming up and I'm a little nervous given the mixed reviews I have read online. I had a few questions regarding the set up:

1. Can I give the online exam on a desktop? If yes, for the room review I'll have to move the desktop around?
2. During the break, are you allowed to leave the room? or access the washroom? I know the online guidelines mention that the camera needs to be on
3. Do past gmat attempts have an impact on whether your online score is marked for review or not?
4. Not a question but any other tips?

I have given the gmat at the centre in the past and to be honest, the test anxiety got to me (gave it twice). So hoping that the home set up will be an enabler.

Thanks,
Hi LongtimeLurker17,

Yes, mba.com does say "You must take your exam on a desktop or laptop computer. All tablets and mobile devices are strictly forbidden. Using a touchscreen on a laptop is also forbidden."

And to add to bb's post, if you currently have a built-in webcam, you could get another webcam if you don't want to lift your monitor every time.

Scott's article on Test Anxiety is excellent, but if you don't have time to work on the many effective tools he presents, consider the following - - and for those of you with more time, optimizing your mindset will help you on test day as well - - with results in as little as 1 hour -- but we see the best improvements in 3 - 5 hours.

- If you have slight anxiety and seek feeling more grounded, do HEART breathing - - this is a technique by Heart Math which helps you emotionally regulate fast. How:

Standing, look ahead, and focus on a point on the wall in front of you. Put your hand on your heart and then imagine you're breathing from your heart TO that point. Very quickly you'll notice your body relax and and breathing regular.

- If you have more anxiety - consider working with an integrated life coach. Based on your symptoms, you'll benefit most from TAPPING, Hypnosis, Neuro-lingusitic programming, EMDR, and more. No need to suffer.

If you want to sample a half hour of exercises -- which might be enough to get out of your own way, listen to our audio, here: https://citytestprep.com/mindfulness-therapy/

Tests don't only measure what you know, they also measure how well you take tests!
