Hi,
I took the GMAT Online exam at home on Saturday morning, and on the same evening I received an email saying that my test is currently under a “security review,” which could take up to 20 days.
I’ve been quite stressed since then, especially after seeing that some people recently had their scores canceled following similar reviews — even for high scores. I scored 645, and I’m really worried something might go wrong.
The only issue I had was that my computer unexpectedly shut down right at the start. I was able to reconnect and resume the exam without any problem after another check with the proctor. For the rest of the test, I wasn’t interrupted at all. There were just some background noises — my upstairs neighbors were walking around a lot, moving furniture, and dropping objects. You could hear it quite clearly. Also, I had a bit of a cold, so I was sniffing occasionally, but I never spoke or did anything that could interrupt the session.
Could this be a reason for concern? I’ve been feeling very anxious about it for the past two days and would really appreciate any clarification or reassurance.

Hi. I would not worry about it.
The security check is something that's triggered by the AI that analyzes your video feed with noise and issues, you are almost guaranteed to get it but it does not mean there is a violation or anything like that. The test is actually not proctored. The proctor is there just for general order but the actual high-end proctoring is done in after-test review and it is driven by AI flags.
In my experience (unofficial guess number), I would estimate that at least 5% of tests get flagged but only a super small number (less than 0.1% get dinged and require a retake). So I would not stress per se as there is nothing you can do at this time and no action is needed, so try to focus on other aspects of your application.
Also, the review usually takes about a week - that's what it has been in the last few months.
Hope you got a good score.
