i've been told it's possible to skip the AWA on a retake, if you were happy with your score on your first exam.

my original AWA score was a 6, but i am retaking the test today because i was not happy with my quant score.

i had planned to skip the AWA essays today and to simply refer the admissions committee to my first AWA scores.

is this advisable?

ive never heard this...id say just sit through the awa, as long as you get a 4 you should be fine

i don't know if adcoms think like me, but if you skip the AWA you will have more mental stamina then you otherwise would have. I would tend to attribute most of your increase in score to that fact, which is not the impression you want to make.

retake was yesterday. i completed both essays and i'm fairly confident that my work was strong. i didn't prepare at all for the essays the first time i took the exam and scored 6.0 on both.

my scaled overall score yesterday was a 680 - a 100 point increase from my first exam three years ago. not quite as high as i would have liked, but fine for now!

SO HAPPY that it's out of the way!! :-D
