I took the exam 2 days back, and i want to share my experience in the hope that it will help someone.
I scored 750
I began my preparation with 7 weeks left for the exam, and as i had relatively nothing else to do, i invested most of my time on the GMAT. I began with using 3 books to cover the syllabus- Barron's, Kaplan and the Princeton Review. Among these, i found the Kaplan book the most comprehensive guide, especially fort he verbal part. I never did anything for the quant part, i was always good at it, and looking at the syllabus, i knew i'd never have problems with that.
For verbal though it required a lot of practice, and even while giving the exam i thought i have screwed up. Although i had a lot of time left, the last 8-9 questions were a breeze, i didn't think twice before selecting next. I was literally shocked when i saw the score, it was improbable, if not impossible.
What i have learned from this exam is:
- Never give up
- Never forget it an adaptive exam, the tougher the questions, the better you are doing
- The official GMAT prep software is the best indicator. I got 720 and 740 on the two tests. Everywhere else i scored around 650-670
- It is a long exam, keep your focus throughout. It is difficult, but comes only with practice.
- Know your test centre beforehand, it helps.
- Use your 10 min break wisely. I used mine to freshen up, drink some energy fluids, and eat chocolates. Do what you think will help. Just thinking that it will help also helps.
What next:
I'm applying for Harvard's 2+2 program in a few days. That seems to be my only option right now, as i have yet to graduate and have no work experience.
Anything else you guys want to know please feel free to ask. I'll help in whatever way i can, because this forum has helped me like nothing else.
