GMAT does not equal intelligence - it is only an indicator. That being said, sure, if you know Strunk and White forwards and backwords and are exceptional at math (more than just being able to get an A in Calc), you may not need to study. Take your first practice test and see - I personally would say that if the results of the test are vital for you, you need to score at minimum 750 on PP or GMAT Prep and be very confident in your answers to not study (due to test day variations that everyone has).
