Waitlist Management

Question

I've been waitlisted at several schools. Considering my artistic background (3.9 Ivy, 720), I'm guessing that quantitative preparation is a weakness? Should I address this? Or should I just let it go? The only thing I can do at this point is register for a math class, and I would gladly do that if I knew this would improve my chances, but does that seem false and if I notify them of this, is it simply drawing attention to weaknesses? I know that schools for waitlist can be divided into 2 categories... schools that like to receive updates and schools that don't... I've already sent in several letters, etc. It's a lot of work to take an extra math class at a college around here. Again, I would gladly do it, but I just don't know if that would be effective at this point.

Also, can we get a general discussion going about which schools like to receive updates and which schools don't?

For instance, Kellogg loves to receive them. And Wharton doesn't. But what about the other top 10?

Most schools would tell you there policies. I think H/S/W all do not allow you to update your info. Most other schools will allow you to.

yeah - they seem to be pretty specific about what they want from you while on waitlist. I reckon following school policy is the best idea - despite my desire to get an influential alum to write a letter. I am holding my ground!
