Waitlist v. Admitted v. Admitted with $$

Question

So far this app season, I've been waitlisted at Ross, admitted at Kenan Flagler (with no $ I presume), and admitted with aprox 1/3 scholarship at Owen (Vanderbilt).

I'm currently an architect, but would like to switch the other side of the table to Real Estate Development when I graduate. Given this information, which program would you choose? Would attending one program vs another increase my salary after graduation, or simply offer me more employment options when I graduate? Does paying potentially 40k over 2 years for the name of a program make financial sense?

Also, given that I live in DC, does it make more sense to go to Georgetown's part time program and continue to work, potentially saving me a large portion of debt? I'm not married nor do I have a significant other to worry about.

Your questions are very specific and I am not sure you will get the information you are looking for here. I would recommend, finding out each schools connection and placement into real estate development. If none of the schools place well into that field, it may be worth it to re-apply next year to targeted real estate programs. If you do not need to be in DC now, i would not do a part time program.

The good news is that you have options especially with no spouse/significant other. I know UNC has a top 20 program and Vandy is a little below, but Vandy is also a better university than UNC, so the alumni network overall I think is at least as good as UNC. I'd say paying the money for the brand name is worth it if the school you're offered admission to (Vanderbilt) is considerably worse than UNC. While UNC does have a better MBA program, Vandy still is a better university, and its program is good too.

Considering Ross is endowed by Stephen Ross, I think it's safe to say there's some RE connections at Michigan lol. Agree with rgupta, at this stage you should be talking with current students and alumni to gauge the opportunities. I'm fairly confident from the things I've read in passing (since I'm not at all interested in RE), that Ross is probably head and shoulders above UNC and Vanderbilt in this regard, but you'll need to hunt that down for sure.

Obviously, you gotta make a call now and then make it off the waitlist, but if you do, I think Ross is the winner given the funding situations.
