xy = total distance.

xy/2 is the half of the distance.

Solution

Given:
• Speed = x miles per hour
• Time taken = y hours

To find:
• Half the distance traveled

Approach and Working:
• We know that, distance = speed * time = x * y

Therefore, half the distance = $$\frac{xy}{2}$$

Hence, the correct answer is Option C

total distance = speed*time= x*y
half the distance = x*y/2
