Let the prices of each month be denoted as Apr ( April) , Mar ( March) and May respectively.
Statement 1:
(1) The price of the stereo in March was 80 percent of its price in April.
Mar = (80/100) Apr
Mar : Apr = 4:5
Hence Insufficient
Statement 2:
(2) The price of the stereo in April was 120 percent of its price in May
Apr = (120/100) May
Apr : May = 6 : 5
Hence Insufficient
Combining Statements 1 and 2, we get
Mar : Apr : May
= 24 : 30 : 25
Hence, Sufficient
