Hi my GMAT Friends,
Bet you thought you've seen the last of me

I have been on and off this form, as I have struggled and taken breaks to recharge. From my last posts, I was even contemplating taking the GRE. I ended up taking a little hiatus (3 weeks due to relocation) and took one more GMAT practice test, one that I already took at the start of my studies in June 2020. I ended up scoring a 35 on Quant but a 44 on Verbal. I did not really remember the exam, and I did not want to spend more money on additional practice exams, so please take this score with a grain of salt (but at the same time, I think this verbal score is promising). A few weeks prior, I took an unseen GMAT official practice test and scored a 620 (30 on Verbal and 47 on quant). I have scored anywhere previously from 30-38 on Verbal and 35-47 on quant. Crazy, right? Despite all of this, I am consistently in the low 600s.
If I were to pull myself together, my best sections combined would translate to a magical +700!
I realize that this is a loaded question, but if anyone has had such these drastic fluctuations, how have you approached maintaining consistency to pull your score together? I worry that it becomes a matter over just being dealt with material on a given exam that I am less comfortable with. I try to always focus on my weaknesses, however on one exam in particular there were several rate-work-distance problems that were very challenging and an unusual amount of tricky science readings. I try to replicate actual exam settings/use my strategies consistently, but nevertheless it always feels like a wild card when I take the GMAT. Almost like one of those Pymetric games in which you are trying to shoot down all of the balloons before the time stops.
