We have now learned that President Nixon lied to Congress about Watergate. The President of our great nation must hold our citizens' trust, and clearly that trust has been undermined. Since President Nixon has been shown to be a consummate liar, he can no longer effectively perform his duties as President. Therefore, it is vital that, Richard Nixon immediately resign his post as President of the United States.
The two portions in boldface play which of the following roles?
(A) Background that the argument depends on, and conclusion that can be drawn from the argument
(B) Factual evidence that the argument includes, and inference that can be drawn from this passage
Why was the post deleted the first time I posted it? I checked -- this question has not been discussed on this forum.
I have lost the source of this question and only have the prompt itself and two answer choices. Could anyone please help me justify the correct answer and provide the rest of the answers, C-E?
