In the real GMAT you will never get those kind of questions. choice (A) and choice (B) will always be compatible. In some of the not so reliable sources for questions (i.e everything that isn't the OG or GmatPrep) you can find all sort of freak questions. I usually choose (E) in that case.

Agree with what was said before me... this won't happen on the real GMAT. Regardless, the answer to this problem is still B; statement one says P = 5 OR -5. Only the second statement tells you for sure it's not 5. 8-)

My GMAT is scheduled for November. The reason for my poor participation in the math forum is that I have switched to the verbal part of the test. Sadly I have very little to contribute to the verbal forum :cry:

Agreed but that was just an example I wanted to ask if you come across a scenario where a) gives YES and b) gives NO then what would be your answer choice!!
