Tourist spots in Indianapolis.

Let me think.

Nah, sorry. There is a really nice speak-easy, dark lit, cocktail bar in the middle of Indy. The Rathskeller is great fun as well. All there is in Indianapolis is drinking, and maybe the Pacers are in town. I suppose you could go to the raceway, but... I haven't bothered yet (I am going to the 500 this summer though).

There isn't much there. Maybe go and get wasted in Broadripple. On Sunday, and watch the Hoosiers deal some more big ten whoopass (hopefully).

Or go and see my potential future mother in law, or father in law, or brother in law, or...

Indy isn't exactly a tourist resort. My nephew (well - above applies) loves the dinosaur exhibit in the Science Museum. Indy is a classic example of how white flight ruins a City. Many people have gone further out and live in houses built in the cornfield, meaning there is little in the downtown area going on.

I think you might well be stunned at how slow life is in what is, for all intents and purposes, a big midwest city.

Besides - I would love to go back to that cocktail bar. It is pretty awesome.

Honestly, Indy is a boring city if you are used to an NYC/LA/SF/Boston/Chicago/etc. I'm there for work somewhat regularly - not much to see. Although, you can get a heck of a steak dinner there on the cheap...

Never been there -- What are the best tourist spots ! ( Apart from the Raceway ) Any recommendations?

Whats the best place to stay - Hotel close to the Raceway or Hotel in the downtown?

Mark4124 -sent you a PM - let me know if you are free on weekend

3underscore had some good suggestions. I attended IU, so I have a strong bias, but Bloomington is a much better way to spend your day than Indy. If you're in Indy, Broadripple is a great area (tons of bars) and you also could hit up the House of Blues or one of the malls (Keystone Crossing & Circle Center). If you want a good beer, hit up Alcatraz Brewing Co. in Circle Center, also a good spot to watch a game.

Id suggest going to see Kelley in B-town if you get a chance. PM me if you want some good advice for Bloomington spots to check out.
