Hi folks,
I just gave my second GMAT attempt and received score of 575 (V81,Q77,DI78). what was most surprising was that when i checked the detailed report was that i did 19 questions right out of 21 quant questions and still received such poor score. I understand while giving exams i noted that questions difficulty level as per my estimation was only easy and Medium for quant questions but where is my fault there?
Also my target score was 645 and while giving 15+ mocks and analyzing them noted that if i get 45-47 questions correct across 3 sections i will achieve the target score. And to my surprise i did 45 questions in the main exam and still received only 575. Could someone please explain what could have went wrong in Quant scoring and overall score as per my analysis.

Did you make any other mistakes in Quant and correct them during review? Especially in the first few questions? That could account for your low Quant percentile.
As per our experience of the last few months, we can say this – When you answer a question incorrectly, the software notices that you faced problems with a question of that level. So, it chooses the next question for you accordingly. If you do correct the answer later, you may not get penalized for that question, but you did get easier questions subsequently and that does impact your score. The fact that you “eventually got it” does not change the fact that you did face problems on it.
We have seen Q78 with 2 final mistakes and Q81 with 1 final mistake. But in all such cases, the test taker had marked first 1 or 2 questions incorrectly and corrected them later.
