Dear All,

First of all let me tell you the situation. Back home, I saw a social problem and tried to do something. But some people retaliated that was natural but I did not expected a physical handling to th extent of beating me up. But sheer determination helped me not to quit. Despite all hardships I faced, I did produce some results if not 100%.

Now the question is? Where this should go?

1. Describe a personal characteristic or quality that will help the Admissions Committee to know you better. (Shows Determination)

Or

2. What do you do best? (Helping people whatever the circumstances be)

Both. The story is only a story. What matters is what conclusion you make at the end and what way you take it. And here you can either use it as an example of the influence of your personal characteristic (persistence, determination ? ) on your decisions, or, on the other hand, show that this is what you do best ( performing under pressure ? ).

Either way you choose, do not forget ,the story, the conclusion or the actual question you choose do not really matter to the adcom. So use them just as an ocassion to sell your story and youself as a unique applicant.
