Hi. It does not necessarily mean they don’t want biotech people. Programs are always interested in a diverse student body. However, there is no reward for creativity. Ideally, you would walk the world trodden path that other graduates have taken.
In some sense, the Adcom like to see people follow familiar recruiting choices. If someone tries to jump too high or transition to far out of there field, Adcom do not want to end up with a failed graduate who did not manage to get a job and reached too far.
So what should doing is actually great. You can use this research to help you figure out traditional career paths out of Wharton…. For Biotech, Sloan has been the feeder school traditionally though I can’t imagine it was sending a large number either.
This is a great question for one of the consultants who is an alum from Wharton. I’m trying to remember who we have… 😬 @
