After spending significant time off these boards researching schools and talking to different people, thanks to your advice AntMavel and Aroman21 I have decided to drop NYU and Columbia from my list and add Cornell and Tuck. I like the sense of community and strong network that Tuck offers as well as the prestige it carries with its GM program. Regarding Cornell i was sold on thier "Immersion" program. From the sound of it, its seems great. However i would like feedback from anyone who has first hand experience of this to get a greater sense of what it is truly worth. NYU and its finance focus didnt really cut it for me and given the fact that i would like to spend time in NYC after my MBA, i think i can do without it for those two years. (besides trying to live in NYC as a student... not my idea of fun)
Hjort, one of the points you made has stuck with me- the one about remote locations offering great bargains- sometimes the remote schools are the true hidden treasures and given that few people are drawn to such areas, people who have potential shortcomings in thier application might have a greater shot at one of these than at one of the mainstream schools... just a theory, one that im holding on to!
In anycase, if anyone would like to volunteer id really like to hear more about Tuck, Cornell and Duke... perhaps from those who are admitted or from those who have some experience with it. I can definately see myself attending one of these... ofcourse if they choose to accept me!
