Undergrad GPA: 3.66
Undergrad degree: Business
Undergrad School: Top 5 public school
Experience: 4 years - 1 year right out of college at a small consulting firm, then 3 years at a small tech company doing a mix of corporate finance and corporate finance. 2 promotions so far at my current company. I will have 5 years of experience by the time I attend school.
Volunteer experience: I have logged a lot of hours over the past 5 years at a local mentorship non profit for middle school and high school kids
About me: United States/M/26
Target Schools:
1). Wharton
2). HBS
3). GSB
4). Kellogg PT - Weekend
I am pretty sure I can get into Kellogg Pt no problem, but am curious what my odds would be if I applied to the other schools.
I am also curious what could help my case. I am planning on retaking the GMAT and am hopeful I can get a 730 or 740. Would this really help my application that much? Would waiting another year for more experience help that much? Any thing else?

For Kellogg, the average seems to be around 700 so you are right about there with a bit of a safety margin.
For the other programs, they are highly competitive. It is hard to tell who makes it who does not based on the profile but looking at the stats, you seem to have what it takes.
You are just about under the average so it should not be really a concern or a differentiator to get 740 vs. 720 as long as you are not from a highly competitive demographic. For the top 3, your best weapon or tool is bringing something unique to the school and standing out among your peers. GMAT will hardly be the differentiator though it can keep you from succeeding if you are too similar to other more impressive applicants and it comes down to stats. Hope this makes sense. You can also get input from consultants (I don't recommend contacting all of them at the same time as it will waste a lot of your and their time and you will have follow up questions you wish you had asked but you would have used up your consultation so I suggest doing it strategically

Overall your credentials look good but a closer look at your work experience and the quality of your admissions package will play big role.
Your quant score on the GMAT is good but can be better. If you want to make it a point of differentiation in your application then targeting 50+ is a good idea. Maybe our free 90 minute Diagnostic Session might makes sense -- a GMAT performance coach will help you to identify the higher leverage gaps that you can target in your testing taking approach and strategies so you can avoid more heavy studying of content and focus on a quick score boost on quant.
Depending on your background, I can point you in the direction of some superb admissions consultants who can help craft winning applications.
The key is to build an application that stands apart and captures your unique experiences and the differentiates the perspective you would bring to the program and your classmates. Details is everything and brainstorming your background from multiple angles is critical regardless of whether you decide to do your applications yourself or seek the help of consultants.
