I have my GMAT in approximately 3 weeks, and have been studying for 2 months on/off. My averages on the test scores are in the low 600s. I plan on applying to only part time programs since my company will be funding me, but I really want to get into a decent school. I have a undergrad GPA of 3.0 from a good engineering program and I have roughly 1.5 years of work experience. My first choice is CMU part time program but am worried my GMAT combined with GPA/work experience will suffice.
Do you think a GMAT score of 650 will get me into CMU or do I need to score a 700?

The above statement is from 2004 but I can only guess, since it is the case with most schools, that the gmat scores went up. This article also states the average incoming gpa was a 3.3 .
With that given, I would honestly shoot for a higher gmat score to "offset" (if that really happens) your "low" gpa. I would not worry so much though because you are .3 away from the average gpa.
That does not mean that you won't get in with a 3.0 . Several things are considered.

I think the link you posted refers to the FT MBA program while the OP is asking about PT MBA programs.
I think a score of about 650 should be sufficient to get into some of the top PT MBA programs (based on what I have seen posted on this website last year). But having said that, the higher the better.
