Hi everyone,
I graduated from an unknown international university(The best one in my country, though). I had a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with a 3.12 GPA.
GMAT:I've got 750 in GMAT but with a 3.5 AWA. Anyway, I'm going to take the GRE next year (since some schools don't accept GMAT) and send both GRE and GMAT to schools.
Plan: I'm going to do a Master's in Quantitative and Computational Finance at Georgia Tech this coming fall. During the time at Gatech I will try to be exposed to researches in this field. I plan to apply for top phds in Finance in 2006 (for fall 2007 admission)
Dream Schools:
Stanford
Wharton
MIT
Chicago
Columbia
NYU
Berkeley
UCLA
Michigan
Rochester
Yale
What are my chances at these schools? am I being realistic here?
What else should I do to increase my chances?

Ph.D in any top school requires you to be very strong in math. At a minimum , you would need a good background in real analysis, calculus and linear algebra. your grades in these courses do matter a lot.
Your degree at Georgia tech will definitely help a lot. Make sure you start looking into research areas in the second semester of your master's program. A journal publication would be the ultimate prize. you dont have to be the first author. collaborative work with your professor would be just fine.
