Hey Manoj, hope all is well. GMAT score is good, academics from college/school are not great but not a red flag either. Entrepreneurship experience (your own venture) can be used to your advantage and will definitely add a unique flavour to your essays since you have been doing it since 2019. In addition, Karate is a recurring theme in your application and hence can be talked about in the application. I can see a gap year post-college and before joining Amazon, not a big worry though. Broad feedback is that you have a good candidature for the school if you are able to flesh out solid work-ex in your own venture (along with awards won).

Impressive! Entrepreneurs always hold a special place in the hearts of B Schools. Your experience running your business for a significant period of time is commendable. To make your application stand out, focus on elaborating on the vision and thought behind your business and how you scaled it to include prestigious companies in the public and manufacturing sector as clients. Your extracurricular activities are also rich in intent and can be great conversation starters.

You did not mention your goals. It is important to think profoundly about your goals. Avoid presenting a generic profile with overused post-MBA goals statements. Consider your long-term vision and what ambitious and inspiring goals you would set to make your short-term trajectory plausible.

To demonstrate that you have thought through your goals, outline your full future plan in your essays. Provide Plan A and B and back up both plans with relevant insights from networking with alums, possible recruiters, and industry experts.

Special Tip- As a business owner, it's important to strategically choose who writes your recommendation letter. To bring variety to your ISB application, you may ask one of your clients, vendors, or business partners to be your recommender. This will bring an "outside" perspective on your skills of building confidence with clients or company's external stakeholders. Those in client-facing roles such as entrepreneurship, consulting, business development, sales, or social enterprises can always leverage this strategy.

Your GMAT is alright, but a solid application strategy should help you differentiate yourself.

Hi MANOJMESSI,

You have a good GMAT score and we think this should cover for the shortfall in acads (average GPA etc.) if any. You have an impressive work experience. Running a successful business for 4 years would definitely give you an edge over other applicants. For a good story line, you would want to highlight the reason for taking up the entrepreneurship track and why you would be needing an MBA at this point in time. Additionally, you should also be able to articulate what would happen to the business once you get into the MBA program (You should have convincing points on why full time and not part time programs are the right choice).
Your extra-curriculars are also impressive. Some of these should be weaved into your story (esp the ones related to martial arts and building global perspective through travel and learning foreign languages). Net-net, your chances of securing an interview invite seem to be good.
