Thanks for the tip I'll make sure to put it on the Calendar. I was actually thinking about using the reciprocity of the CRCs between Booth and Kellogg to get access to some of the HC firms. I have a pretty strong network in that area, but exposure to new firms never hurts. As alays RiverRipper - your comments are insightful and helpful...thanks.
This is a great thread. It sounds like (unsurprisingly) many of the very best GM programs only recruit at the top 7 or so schools. I've been accepted at only Duke so far. Will that limit my ability to get a position in a top program? I know there are always exceptions made, but as a general rule would attending Duke limit my chances?
Disney's Internal Strategy group is supposed to be amazing. Also, Cisco's Corporate Development group. These are not standard "General Management" programs per se... but amazing placements in industry if you can swing them nonetheless.
Any chance these bio/HC GM firms hire those without prior experience, i.e.- career changers out of MBA programs if they have put in some time/effort during bschool?
Are companies willing to hire internationals for GM role? RIght now, i know it is very difficult for internationals to enter marketing post MBA in the US. Further, going a bit off track: besides finance and consulting, which other roles are freely opened to internationals? I have interest in GM/marketing and it looks GM may be my only viable option:)
