Hi All,
I just took my first practice test (probably about 3 hours of prior studying) and received a 590:
Verbal: 10 out of 41 wrong
Quant: 16 out of 37 wrong
I plan on putting in an hour/ day during the week and 4+/day on the weekend, mostly focusing on quant (obviously my weaker area).
I have the Kaplan, PR, and OG books all waiting for me
What do you think? I'm aiming for 700+, closer to 750, by the time I take the exam in a month and a half.
Am I aiming too high? Do I need to put in more hours?
Any advice is appreciated.

Well, being realistic, I would say that if you're starting at 590, a 750 is probably not a wise target. That's an enormous jump, and very few (less than 5%?) of test-takers hit 750 at all. 700 may be doable if you're diligent, especially since you'd only had 3 hours of prep before the first test.
You've got the right books for the most part...start with the strategies in the Princeton Review book. Do practice questions in the OG, one question type a night. Take full tests on the weekends.
You didn't say, though, which test you took. If it was Kaplan, then ignore the score. They're way off (which would be a positive, because Kaplan scores much lower than you really would). If it was Princeton Review or GMATPrep, then it is a pretty reliable score.

Thanks for the advice--I really want the 750 so you're just motivating me to work harder!
It was the GMAT Prep that I took, unfortunately.
I think my biggest problem is simply being rusty at math, which I havent taken since high school (Communications undergrad). But I used to be really good at it back then so that's probably why I am optimistic about making a big jump.
