is there any other way to solve this? I don't get this explanation

What contains more calories: a gram of refined wheat or a gram of T flour?

Let R = calories per gram of refined wheat, T = calories per gram of T flour.

(1) 1/2 gram of refined wheat contains fewer calories than 1/3 gram of T flour.

The above implies R/2 < T/3

R < 2/3 T

So, R < T. Sufficient.

(2) 1/3 gram of T flour contains more calories than 1/4 gram of refined wheat.

The above implies T/3 > R/4

T > 3/4*R

This does not fix the order. T could still be less than R or greater than R. Not sufficient.
