What fraction of the cookies in a certain bakery’s window display contains nuts?

To solve this we need the percentage of cookies containing nuts or not containing nuts.

Statement (1) Of the cookies in the display, 22 contain nuts.
This statement does not give any information on the total number of cookies. Just having the number of cookies containing nuts is not helpful. Hence this statement is not sufficient.

Statement (2) Of the cookies in the display, 90% do not contain nuts.

This statement clearly tells us percentage of cookies not containing nuts, from which we can easily calculate the percentage of cookies containing nuts. Hence this statement is sufficient.

Answer is B
