What happened?

-I used Princeton Review's separate verbal and math workouts as well as the 04 edition of Cracking the GMAT with the CD.
-I used Kaplan's GRE/GMAT Math review, Verbal book, and Kaplan GMAT (05 edition) with the accompanying CD. I also used the Kaplan 800 book.
-I paid $20 on Peterson's website for access to 3 CATs. (I will purchase the Peterson's book with 6 CATs later)
-I also used ETS's Official Guide
-I also used the Delta Course for permutations, combinations, statistics, etc..

Before I started using the preparation materials above, I reviewed algebra, geometry, arithmetic, and verbal.

Now my Verbal score on the real GMAT was similar to my verbal score on the Kaplan and Peterson's CATs. However my verbal score on the Kaplan's practice tests in the book and CD were outstanding.

I did all the problems in the books above and went over the problems I got wrong.

In regards to the real GMAT, I thought I bombed the math section totally. I used POE on 4 questions, guessed on 4 more, and had to rush on the last 12 questions to finish the math portion on time. I did receive a permutation problem in the middle of the test (that I cracked easily thanks to the Delta Course practice) and a standard deviation data sufficiency question (that I guessed on).

In regards to the Verbal section I finish the section on time with 2 minutes left. I thought I did very well on this section and as a result, I thought my verbal score was going to carry me. However, my verbal scaled score turned out to be very low 31, while my math scaled score was a 46.

In regards to the verbal section on the practice CATs, I cruised through them all thinking I aced the section. I scored excellent on both the Powerpreps and Princeton Review CATs. However I scored poorly (scaled score of 31-32) on the verbal section of the Peterson's and Kaplan's CATs.

For my new GMAT strategy I will buy the $30 GMAT 800 course with 5 CATs, GMAT secrets guide, the Nova, Ace the GMAT, and another guide from Amazon. I will also look into acquiring a grammar book and a LSAT book for critical reasoning. I will focus mainly on the verbal but I will not neglect math.

However I am open to any input of what I should use and do to increase both my verbal and math score.

I read a negative review posted here about the GMAT Secrets Guide. I would check it out before ordering it.
