The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL). It is one of the major English-language tests in the world. It measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or go in for professional training(the Academic module)/work or migration(the General Training module) where English is used as a language of communication.
In order to complete your IELTS test registration, you need to pay an amount of 13,250 in India. [source =

It assesses all four English skills : listening(30 minutes), reading(60 minutes), writing(60 minutes) and speaking(11–14 minutes). The Listening, Reading and Writing are completed on the same day, with no breaks in between them. The Speaking test may be on the same day or seven days before or after the other tests. Listening and Speaking are the same for both the modules(the Academic/the General Training), but the subject matter of the Reading and Writing tests differs depending on which test you take. It is a handwritten test. The candidate's handwriting is critical. It may result in poor grading if the examiner is unable to read a particular handwriting
The test results are available online 13 days after the main test day. The Test Report Form is posted to test takers 13 days after their test. It shows an Overall Band Score (from 1-9) and a band score (from 1-9) for each section of the test (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).
