What is the area of the shaded region, if O is the center of the circle, and the triangle shown is a right triangle?

(1) The diameter of the circle is 6.
(2) The triangle shown is a right triangle.

Statement 1: The diameter of the circle is 6.
We can not calculate any other dimension unless at least one of the other 2 sides of the triangle is given to us.
Insufficient

Statement 2: The triangle shown is a right triangle.
Repeats the question stem.
Insufficient.

Combining Statements 1 & 2
Nothing new
Insufficient.

Answer: E

Statement 1 - We cannot use this information to find the area of shaded region.

Statement 2 - This is a redundant information and it's of no use. If this option had mentioned the triangle to be an isosceles, then we can say the answer is C.

Combining 1 and 2 - No use.

Hence E.

Cheers!
