One way to solve this question would be to find the length of each side of the triangle and then find the area.
An alternative way is to imagine the triangle enclosed in a rectangle RPQN as shown below.
We can then subtract the area of \(\triangle POM\), \(\triangle RMN\), and \(\triangle OQN\) from the enclosed area of the rectangle RPQN.
Area of the rectangle = l * b = 4 * 3 = 12 sq. units
The total area of the triangles = 9 sq. units.
Area of \(\triangle MON\) = 12 - 9 = 3 sq. units
