What is the hundreds digit of the integer z?
(1) 10z = 93,120
(2) z rounded to the nearest hundred is 9,300.
Please can some one try this for me also please can some one elaborate/explain me whats is the meaning of rounded to nearest 10 or to 100 or to 1000 (Preferably with examples)
will go with A
stmnt1 - 10z = 93120 so z =9312 and hundred's digit is 3. suff
stmnt2 - z when rounded to nearest hundred is 9300 so hundreds digit can be both 2 or 3.
if z = 9292 then when rounded to nearest hundred it will be 9300 also if z= 9339 then when rounded to nearest hundred it will still be 9300 so stmnt 2 is insuff
11 when rounded to nearest 10 will give us value as 10 since units digit is less than 5. similarly 17 when rounded to nearest 10 will gives us 20 as units digit is more than 5
same way for nearest 100 and 1000. 140 rounded to nearest hundred will give us 100[ here ten's digit is less than 5] but 170 rounded to nearest 100 will be 200[ here ten's digit is more than 5]
for 1000: 4300 rounded to nearest thousand will be 4000 [ here hundred's digit is less than 5] and 4700 when rounded to nearest thousand will be 5000 [ here hundred's digit is more than 5]
