What is the perimeter of ABCDE?

A. \(60\)
B. \(36+12\sqrt{3}\)
C. \(36+8\sqrt{3}\)
D. 48
E. \(36+6\sqrt{3}\)

\(\triangle ADE\)leads to an equilateral triangle

Perimeter = 12*5= 60

Answer = A

notice that \(150^{\circ}=90^{\circ}+60^{\circ}\)

So the figure can be split to form a square and an equilateral triangle, both with side 12.

The perimenter is \(12\cdot 5=60\)

so A

Also, note that perimeter of ABCDE is not perimeter of square + perimeter of triangle. It is perimeter of 3 sides of square + 2 sides of triangle.

Perimeter of ABCDE = AB + BC + CD + DE + EA = 3 sides of squares + 2 sides of equilateral triangle
