St1: m + s + g = 10.84 --> Clearly insufficient as we have 3 unknowns and just 1 equation.
St2: s = 0.06m --> Clearly insufficient
Combining St1 and St2, m + 0.06m + g = 10.84
1.06m + g = 10.84 --> 2 unknowns and just 1 equation.
Insufficient.
Answer: E
St2: s = 0.06m --> Clearly insufficient
Combining St1 and St2, m + 0.06m + g = 10.84
1.06m + g = 10.84 --> 2 unknowns and just 1 equation.

IN this value type of DS question, we have to find the value of the List price of a certain meal on a menu. Let us assume the list price to be L, therefore, we have to find a unique value for L.
From statement I alone, we know that the total amount paid for the meal, sales tax and gratuity is $10.84. Since we do not know the exact values of the sales tax and gratuity, we will not be able to find a unique value for the list price i.e. L.
Statement I alone is insufficient. Answer options A and D can be eliminated. Possible answer options are B, C or E.
From statement II alone, we know that the sales tax on the food is 6 percent. But, we do not know the total amount paid and we do not know if there are any other components involved in the total (like gratuity, etc)
Statement II alone is insufficient. Answer option B can be eliminated. Possible answer options are C or E.
Combining statements I and II, we have the following:
From statement II, we know that the sales tax on food is 6 percent. From statement I, we know that a total of $10.84 was paid which included the list price (L), sales tax of 6% and gratuity.
But, even after combining the statements, we do not have information about the gratuity. Therefore, we will not be able to find out a unique value of the List price, L.
The combination of statements is insufficient. Answer option C can be eliminated.
The correct answer option is E.
