What is the probability that Alicia will visit the museum on Sunday?

(1) The probability that she visits the museum on Saturday is 50%

(2) Alicia never visits the museum two days in a row.

Gentle note to all experts and tutors: Please refrain from replying to this question until the Official Answer (OA) is revealed. Let students attempt to solve it first. You are all welcome to contribute posts after the OA is posted. Thank you all for your cooperation!

Statement 1

(1) The probability that she visits the museum on Saturday is 50%

This statement alone is not sufficient to determine whether Alicia will visit the museum on Sunday. We can elimiante A and D.

Statement 2

(2) Alicia never visits the museum two days in a row.

If we know for sure that Alicia visited the museum on Saturday or on Monday we can determine that she didn't visit the museum on Sunday. However, no information is provided regarding her visit. Hence, we can eliminate B.

Combined

The statement combined do not provide any determinant answer. If Alicia visited the museum on Saturday, then we have an answer for the question " What is the probability that Alicia will visit the museum on Sunday?", however if she has not visited the museum on Saturday, then we can't comment on the probablity of her visit on the Sunday. Hence, the statements combined also fail to yeild the answer.
