What is the ratio of the area of a circle and its diameter?
(A) π/2
(B) (πr)/2
(C) πr
(D) r^2/2
(E) None of these
A bit of a dumb question. Why is the answer none of these? The explanation says the diameter and area are two different units that's why we can't find the ratio of it? But why?

Ratio is between similar terms. So, you cannot have area on one side and length on other. You can have ratio of areas of square and triangle. You can have ratio of length and breadth. But you cannot have a ratio of volume and area.
Ratio has no unit, it is a pure number. But if you have area:dia, the units become \(\frac{m^2}{m}=m\). Thus, the unit of ratio becomes meter. And in some other case, it could be area : time => m/s
