let side of square be 4
so altitude of triangle = 4
area of triangle 0.5 * 4* 4/ 16 = 1/2 IMO C

Area of square=DC^2
Area of triangle DEF=0.5*Base*Height
Here,B=H=DC
Hence.area of triangle DEF=0.5*Dc*DC

Thus, ratio of area of triangle DEF to area of square=(0.5*DC*DC)/(DC*DC)= 0.5=1/2
