What is the right time to go for GMAT?

Question

Hey there! I want to know what would be the right time to go for GMAT exam if I am targeting colleges in India only.
I am planning somewhere between 20th to 30th September. Am I too late in doing the same?
Please suugest as I just begine my prep and need at least 4 months to even think of a good score.

Hi Ankurshaz,

Do you know which Schools/Programs you're specifically interested in? If so, then you should be able to research them individually so that you can determine the various application deadlines and admission requirements.

OK thanks for your suggestions..
I am targeting ISB and Great lakes Chennai..and for both the colleges the round one generally starts from 1st week of October.
So if I done with my GMAT by 20th September, do I get sufficient time to apply for round 1?

Hi Ankurshaz,

Most Business Schools take weeks (or even months) to go over all of the applications that they receive, so as long as you've taken your Official GMAT and submitted your application by the deadline date, then you should be fine. It often takes 1-2 weeks for your GMAT score to be 'certified', but Business Schools understand that fact and they won't reject your application if they have to wait a few days to receive your Official Score Report. Some Schools have even been known to allow applicants to take the GMAT (and submit scores) AFTER the application deadline has passed, as long as the rest of the application was submitted on time. This is all meant to say that your general timeline is fine, but you have to make sure to give yourself enough time to work on your applications (so that you're not rushing to finish them at the last minute).
